How is the SCC Business Institute programming different from the main campus?

The SCC Business Institute [BI] specializes in accelerated learning formats designed for adult learners seeking a Business Fastrack, Business Topics, Retail Management and Marketing and Fastrack Entrepreneur.

Business Express
features a variety of university transfer courses accelerated into an 8-week delivery available either online or on-campus.

What degrees and certificates are offered by the Business Institute?

Business Fastrack 2-year Associate Degree and 1-year Certificate in Business.

Fastrack Entrepreneur 1-year Certificate in Small Business Management.

Retail Management and Marketing 1-year Certificate.

Can graduates transfer to universities to complete bachelors degree programs?

Yes, a variety of transfer opportunities exist for AAS graduates.  Contact advisor Michelle Tash for detailed information.

What type of assignments will I do?

Programs at the BI focus on meaningful projects and activities to develop new skills that deliver immediate value at work.

What is an accelerated class format?

In a traditional format, students meet on-campus several times each week for 16 weeks for each 3-credit course. In an accelerated format, students typically meet once per week for several weeks:

  • 1 credit class = meets for 2 weeks
  • 2 credit class = meets for 4 weeks
  • 3 credit class = meets for 5 or 8 weeks

Are there a variety of programs and  delivery options available?

The Business Institute offers credit classes on-campus and online formats.

  • Business Fastrack classes meet for 5 weeks and are available in two deliveries: on-campus and online format.
  • Business Express classes meet for 8 weeks and are offered in online, and in on-campus formats.
  • Fastrack Entrepreneur has both 2-week and 4-week classes and is an on-campus program.
  • Retail Management and Marketing classes are 8-weeks and offered online.  On-campus classes are also scheduled periodically.
  • Business Topics Series offers a wide variety of subjects for professional growth or personal interest on-campus and online.

We also offer accelerated, non-credit career and computer training through our Workforce Development Program.

How much do classes cost?

Tuition is very affordable for Arizona residents*. Most courses also have a nominal course fee.

*Students from the following counties are considered out-of-county and should check with their local County Board of Supervisors about out-of-county tuition and fee payments: Apache, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz.

Non-credit class fees include books and materials and start at $49.

What are the teachers like?

Instructors for these unique programs are selected for their practical business expertise, educational credentials, and facilitation skills.

What about textbooks?

We try to keep text costs down by selecting paperback editions with very focused content, however we have no control over SCC bookstore pricing. If students plan ahead, significant savings are available when purchasing books online, but they must allow for shipping time. Students are responsible to have the correct text on-hand for the first day of class.

I haven't been to school in a while... how do I know if I'm ready? If I'll fit in?

Many adults feel this way when starting or returning to college. Rest assured, the majority of our students are working adults just like you-juggling the demands of work and family with the need to become more educated to advance in their career.
