Reading, understanding, and following instructions is a life skill and critical to online learning.

Most of your questions will be answered in the following information. Read very carefully before starting your class.


All navigation links can be found at the left and top of each page in the Business Institute website.

Use only your Maricopa email account to communicate with your instructor and BI staff.  Receive important messages from SCC, the BI, and your other Maricopa campuses about canceled classes, financial aid and due dates sent to this account.

Starting Your Online Class...Syllabus

1.  Students and instructors communicate and exchange assignments via email. We want you to use your Maricopa gmail account for this class. [Learn more about your Maricopa Gmail account.]
 

2.  Each online class has it's own website.  On your class start date, you will access your class through Blackboard.      Click here to see Blackboard log-in page.

Your class website has assignments and instructions posted as well as "Class Links " and “Resources & Standards.”  These links include all instructions for successfully completing the course. When starting a new class, please take a few moments to review the content of each link before beginning the course assignments. Contact your instructor if you have any questions or concerns.

 
If you are new to online learning, you are encouraged to review Orientation for Online classes.
 

3.   Students must contact instructor via email to receive their individual assignments before beginning the class.  Each course has multiple assignments posted. Only assigned work will be accepted. 

Include your full name, course number [GBS123] and start date in the email. Attach your completed Acknowledgement Form.

 
4.   Assignments must be prepared using only MS Office software  [Word, PowerPoint, Excel]. If you do not have this software on your computer, you may use the software availabile on MySCC.

* First assignments are due within 7 days of the start date.
* Students do not receive reminders from instructor.
*
Weekly assignments must be submitted by Monday at 12 noon [Phoenix time]. 
* Late assignments will not be accepted.
Extra credit is not an option.
* Students are responsible to have textbooks in time to meet assignment deadlines.  No extensions will be granted.

 
6. Textbooks are required to complete assignments. alertAllow enough time for delivery if not purchasing from the SCC Bookstore. You  may also purchase an online textbook. Students are responsible to have textbooks in time to meet assignment deadlines.  No extensions will be granted.
